I knew I was going to have a wonderful day when I heard the Supreme Court's decision on the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Thanks to President Obama, this historic decision was indeed a "victory" for the American people. He states, "Here in America, in the wealthiest nation on earth, no illness or accident should lead to an family's financial ruin... today's decision was a victory for people all across this country whose lives will be more secure."
I am sure I am not the only college student that was getting anxiety about affording healthcare after I graduated. Thankfully, now some of us have a little less to worry about because we can stay on our parents' healthcare plan significantly longer. And for those of us that don't have that option, the White House states that the Affordable Care Act "provides premium tax credits for young adults making up to roughly $43,000 a year to ensure that they can afford quality coverage in the new state-based Health Insurance Exchanges (which start in 2014)."
The Affordable Care Act will end "gender rating" (which allows women to be charged more for the same coverage as men). Being a woman will no longer be a pre-existing condition! (!!!!!!!!!!!)
Here's a link to further explain the benefits of the ACA for ALL Americans! ENJOY!
