American Association of University Women Campus Action Projects

This year’s CAP grant program focuses on the issues raised by AAUW’s upcoming research report, Crossing the Line: Sexual Harassment in Schools.The report includes nationally representative data about the sexual harassment that occurs in grades seven through 12. To put research into practice, teams of student leaders and campus faculty nationwide may apply for up to $5,000 to design and implement programs using recommendations from the report, found in the request for proposals. Project goals may include raising awareness about sexual harassment or improving schools’ prevention methods and responsiveness to sexual harassment. Applications must be submitted by October 21. Applicants will be contacted by December 2. AAUW college/university partner members receive preference.

 

Scholarships Available to St. Paul Area Women

The St. Paul College Club, Inc. American Association of University Women Scholarship Trust fund announces its scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year.

We will award $4000 scholarships to high school senior women from public and private schools in St. Paul and nearby suburbs, selected on the basis of financial need, scholarship achievements, recommendation, and school and community activities. One of these scholarships, in honor of Lillian Osborn, is awarded to a student who shows promise in poetry. These scholarships are renewable for three additional years, providing the recipient remains a full time student in an accredited four year college and maintains at least a B average. Returning Women Scholarships of $3000 will be awarded as a one year grant. This scholarship is intended to help a woman at least 25 years old whose undergraduate education has been interrupted but who has been accepted in a two-year or a four-year degree program at an accredited college or university. Applications and accompanying instruction memos are available at www.aauwstpaul.org. Applications are available on the website as of January 15, 2011 and must be returned by March 15, 2011.

Grant Opportunity for MSU Mankato Students, Faculty, and Staff

Grants of up to $500 are available throughout the year for campus community members who plan to conduct research or attend professional conferences concerned with the status of women and/or gender related issues.

The Commission on the Status of Women encourages all interested faculty, staff, and students to apply for this funding opportunity. Grant information and the application form are available online. Hard copy applications can be submitted to the President's Commission on the Status of Women Graduate Assistant, Jenelle Haddad, in the Centennial Student Union, Room 218 (The Women's Center). A deadline for fall proposals has not yet been set.
